Frequently Asked Questions

Do I call or email to make an appointment?

Neither.  Please make an appointment on this website by simply clicking the Appointments tab in the menu.


I'd like to make an appointment on a specific day at a specific time, but the online calendar isn't showing any availability. Why is that and what do I do?

In this case, the specific appointment time that you're looking for might have been booked by another customer before you and that specific time has been automatically removed from the scheduler to avoid overbooking.  You will have to choose another time/day that's actively available to book your appointment.  However, people do sometimes re-schedule their appointments, so it helps to check the online calendar regularly.  If you plan on coming in on a Saturday, we highly recommend booking your appointment well in advance as appointments tend to book up very quickly.  Please also make sure you don't have any more extra services checked off that you don't need as this makes it harder to find a desirable appointment time.


Can you cancel someone else's booked appointment time for me?

No, we cannot.  Each customer controls their own appointments and no-one else's.


I need beginner skates for me or my child. What do I do?

You can make an appointment right here on our website under the appointments tab.  Select Initial Skate Fitting and select a day and time that is available that works best for you.  We will happily guide you or your beginner into the proper pair of skates.


Are appointments necessary?

Yes, except for accessory shopping and drop-offs.


For which services can I make an appointment?

Appointments can be made for new skate fitting, figure sharpening, boot stretching and blade balancing.


Do you have my size in stock?

We attempt to stock as many sizes as we can.  We cannot determine if we have your size until we measure your foot in-person.  A variety of factors go into skate sizing.  However, if we are sold out of your size, special orders can sometimes be as quick as one week.


Do you sell hockey skates?

No, we only sell figure skates.


What is your mask policy?

Masks are now optional.  

The entire staff at Polar Skate Shop is fully vaccinated.


How long will it take to stretch my boots?

Proper boot stretching takes 24 hours.


Can I drop off my skates for sharpening and pick them up later?

Absolutely.

Skates can be dropped off for sharpening or service without an appointment and picked up the next operating day.

We are open Tuesday-Friday 11a-7p & Saturday 10a-4p. 

We are closed Sundays and Mondays.

Accessory shopping can also be done without an appointment.
